It is unquestionable that the iPad has impacted the events industry. From client presentations, product and information displays, and evaluation surveys, to project management apps there seems to be a feature or application for everything whether you are an event planner or hosting your own event. Here are the top apps I use and love to help manage my events:
Super Planner – Super Planner provides a variety of planning tools, including calculators for venue capacity, staffing, catering, staging, projection and dance floor as well as useful tips in several areas such as food and beverage, audio/visual, and venue capacity.
Keynote – Create a world-class presentation with animated charts and transitions. It’s as simple as touching and tapping.
Square – Square is an inexpensive way to easily and conveniently accept credit card payments wherever you are. You can create a list of service or products you sell right on your iPad.
Go To Meeting – The easiest and most convenient way to attend online meetings. View slide presentations, design mock-ups, spreadsheets, reports and more.
Office HD – View, create and edit word (DOC and DOCX) and Excel (XLS) files on your iPad.
iLeads – The world’s first lead retrieval app. It enables exhibitors to collect leads at trade shows.
Daily Notes and To Do – Great app for jotting down notes, thoughts and things to do.
Evernote – Evernote is my go-to application for capturing information I want to be able to find in the future. I use it mainly for web pages, but it will file text notes, PDFs, spreadsheet, photos, memos, and screenshots. It holds 40MB per month (with a maximum single note size of 25MB). The free version fits my needs.
iTalk Lite – Great for recording conversations, speeches, music, etc.
iSurvey – The tool that market research professionals use when they are tired of using old fashioned clip boards and paper forms for face to face interviews. Great tool for conducting evaluation surveys at events.
Weatherbug – This is the best weather app I’ve found. This is great for current weather conditions, forecasts, animated radar, temperature, wind speed and pressure maps and more.
MindMeister – The one and only mind-mapping app you’ll ever need. Helps organize, prioritize and generate new thoughts.
Pocket Informant HD (Calendar and Tasks)
– This app won “Best of Show 2011” at Macworld Expo 2011. Tones of features and worth checking out.
TweetDeck – Until Twitter comes out with a few version of Tweetie, this is my favorite Twitter client. The URL shortener works great but I miss the tweetshrink button available in the desktop version – that is useful when a tweet is just a few characters too long.
Sign My iPad – Simple to use PDF reader and annotation tool. No more printing documents to sign and then scanning and emailing. Do it all from your iPad.
Scanner Pro – Scanner Pro transforms your iPhone and the new iPad into portable scanners. It allows you to scan checks, agreements, whiteboards, pages and even multipage documents. After scanning you can email them or upload to Dropbox, Google Docs and Evernote.
